Matcha Rose Ghee Cake

Matcha Rose Ghee Cake

Nothing says I love you like a home made matcha rose love cake cooked in ghee and decorated with rose petals. Matcha is such a wonderful thing to add to cake as it brings another layer of flavor that balances the sweetness of a cake, not to mention a vibrant green color.

Why You'll Love It:

  • Easy to make
  • A cake decorated with rose petals is always extra special
  • Our rich ghee gives it the perfect texture and taste

Matcha Rose Ghee Cake

Serves: 8
Time: ~40 minutes, plus cooling time

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups of flour
  • 2 TBSP matcha powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 TBSP rose water
  • 1/2 cup Sun Ghee Original, plus another spoon or two for the cake pan

Optional Rose Water Glaze:

To decorate the cake, use 3/4 cup confectioner's sugar, 1 TBSP rose water and 1 TBSP milk. Combine until you get a smooth consistency. Once the cake has cooled, drizzle or pour this on top and decorate with dried rose petals.

    Directions:

To start, preheat your oven to 350 F.

    1. Combine dry ingredients
Combine the matcha, flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
    2. Combine wet ingredients
In a separate bowl, combine the melted ghee with sugar.  Once mixed, add in the eggs, rose water, and milk. Whisk to combine
    3. Mix together
Fold in the dry ingredients in the wet ingredients just enough to combine them without overmixing
    4. Bake
Pour into a 9 inch cake pan that has been greased with ghee or lined with parchment paper. Bake for 30 minutes and check the middle with a toothpick to see if it is done. Let cool once it is out of the oven before decorating with the rose water glaze.

The best part is sharing this cake with others but if you have leftovers, it would go great with a green tea in the morning for breakfast!
